Semente Program

With the support of: 

SEMENTE is an entrepreneurship support program, composed by three phases of intervention:

  • The training phase, with collective sessions;

  • The individual consulting phase aiming to support the participants to get their company started, which includes a project logo proposal, a marketing plan and an internationalization potential diagnosis;

  • The incubation phase and action plan.

WHO MAY APPLY?

Entrepreneurs, of any age or gender, that want to create their own business or improve their initial business model or strategy for a start-up (less than 4 months).

HOW MUCH IT COSTS AND WHAT DOES MY IDEA GET BY APPLYING?

The entire program is FREE.

You will have access to a group of specialists that will help you take the right steps towards the creation of a successful business.

PHASE 1

TRAINING “FROM THE IDEA TO THE BUSINESS”

This training course, named “From the Idea to the Business”, has the goal of providing to the participants the needed tools and technics for the entrepreneurial process, using a creative approach, as well as practical and enabling contents for the business initiative.

Among those contents, we highlight the creativity technics, recognizing and evaluating business opportunities, market analysis, financing solutions for entrepreneurs, as well as the technics for pitching and the construction of a business plan.

PHASE 1

APPLICATIONS AND SELECTION

Those interested in participating must submit their applications through the online application form. Only 30 of all the applications will be selected to undertake the program.

The selection is made based on the following criteria:

  • Evaluation of the professional resume;

  • Evaluation of the academic resume;

  • Drive to lead business initiatives and entrepreneurial spirit.

- Resume;

- Copy of the Identification Document;

- Proof of professional status.

PHASE 1

CONCRETE OBJECTIVES OF THE LEARNING PROCESS

- To comprehend the importance of creativity and innovation in the entrepreneurial process;

- Acknowledgement of business opportunities;

- Market analyses, namely rival companies and products, as well as substitute or complementary ones;

- Knowledge of the basic principles of marketing and creating value;

- Building a marketing strategy: segmentation, targeting and positioning;

- Protecting and monitoring of Intellectual property;

- Organizing and planning of entrepreneurial teams;

- Financing new projects.

PHASE 1

SKILLS TO DEVELOP

At the end of the training course, the participants will be able to:

  • Recognize the importance of creativity in developing practical solutions;

  • Recognize in the entrepreneur profile the key aspects, know-how and skillset need to attain success in business projects;

  • Operationalize a business idea according to the market;

  • Establish an action plan for a business idea;

  • Identify every step for building a business plan.

PHASE 1

METHODOLOGY AND SCHEDULE

It’s a 50 hours training course, distributed in weekly 3 hour sessions, every Wednesday from 09:00 to 12:00 or from 19:00 to 22:00, according to the group’s availability.

The 30 participants will be organized into small groups, preferably with miscellaneous backgrounds and skillsets. The smaller groups shall develop business plans for business opportunities in areas yet to be defined.

PHASE 1

CERTIFICATES

All the participants that graduate from the training course will receive the Professional Training Certificate for the course of “Idea to Business”. This professional training certificate will be issued according to the model present in the law – Portaria nº 474/2010.

PHASE 1

COURSE CONTENT 

  1. Introduction to the entrepreneurial process (3 hours) – Session in classroom format with the presentation of the general aspects connected to the entrepreneurial process, through the use of group dynamics that allow interaction between all participants and that focus the subject. At the end of the session a network activity will take place to enable and facilitates an informal interaction between the participants for the future sessions;

  2. Creativity applied to business (3 hours) -  Technics for generation, evaluation and selection of ideas and problem solving methodologies through creative process;

  3. The Opportunity: acknowledgement and evaluation (3 hours) – Presentation followed by practical exercises to help to acknowledge and shape the opportunity;

  4. The business model (6 hours) – Using the Business Model Canvas to plan the business project;

  5. Entrepreneur for a day (9 hours) – In one day, in small groups, the participants must create, develop and close a business;

  6. Protecting the Idea (2 hours) – Aspects of protecting Intellectual Property;

  7. The business plan (3 hours) – Presentation of the business plan template with the explanation in how to fill it according to an hypothetical business case;

  8. Market analysis (3 hours) – Training in market analysis, namely competitors analysis, market studies, STP and support in building the business plan;

  9. Marketing plan (3 hours) – Marketing training with focus on positioning and marketing-mix;

  10. Organization and Operations (3 hours) – Supporting the construction of the business plan (operations, technology, equipments, production methods and human resources, regarding quantity and needed profiles);

  11. Financing new businesses (6 hours) – Aiding in the construction of the financial plan and financing alternatives for the company;

  12. Pitching technics (3 hours) – Presentation technics and pitching simulation;

  13. Final presentation of the business plans as elevator pitches (3 hours) – Final session with a presentation to investors and a jury panel that will evaluate the business plans. This evaluation will be included in the final selection process for the next phase.

PHASE 2

CREATING THE BUSINESS

In this phase the participants will have access to individual specialized consulting sessions, working specifically for their project in matters like market, marketing and communication, internationalization potential and defining and action plan. They may also require a logo proposal for their project. The issues discussed in the consulting sessions, among the topics already referred to, will be defined according to the specific needs of every entrepreneur and project.

PHASE 2

APPLICATIONS AND SELECTION

Any entrepreneur who successfully completes the training and intends to create their own business, can apply for the 2nd phase. From the applications submitted, the top 20 will be selected.

The weighting for this selection will take into account the classifications obtained in the course and the evaluations of the business plans determined by the jury of the final session of the 1st phase.

PHASE 2

METHODOLOGY AND SCHEDULE

The consulting session will take place, preferably, in Sines Tecnopolo’s facilities although the consultant and the entrepreneur may convene at other locations either alone or with other people that may benefit the project.

The consulting will occur, preferably, in weekly sessions of two hours each, in a total of 16 hours.

PHASE 3

INCUBATION AND BUSINESS MONITORING

After the creation of the company, the entrepreneurs may benefit from the use of a co-working space or a virtual incubation service for one year. This space, physical or virtual, will allow them to further develop and consolidate their business, granting them the status of “residents” of Sines Tecnopolo with all the benefits that come from that.

PHASE 3

APPLICATIONS AND SELECTION

In order to be granted a workstation in the co-working space, the participants must present their application accompanied by their business plan. From all the applications only 8 will be selected, considering the currently available co-working spaces.

In order to benefit from the virtual incubation service the participants must present an application as well, also accompanied by their business plan, but there won’t be a selection of applications, meaning that all Phase 2 participants may benefit from this support service.

PHASE 3

MONITORING AND BUSINESS FOLLOW-UP

Monitoring an continuous business follow-up will be provided to every entrepreneur for a period of 2 years, consecutively, from them moment they begin their activity.
